For the first time ever I am required to participate in a STEM EXPO. I'm not 100% sure what this is. Does anyone have any STEM activities for states of matter?

I had parents head different stations and students rotated together.

One group made oobleck

Rootbeer floats (solid ice cream, liquid rootbeer made gas bubbles)

Making butter. They each shook little plastic containers like the ones used for take out salad dressing until the salt and cream turned to solid and then ate on crackers.

Baking soda and vinegar in water bottle blew up a balloon attached to the top of the bottle.

Build the tallest tower using toothpicks, marshmallows. Tried candy corn but it didn't work!

How can you hold up a book only using a piece of paper and one measured piece of tape.

Given a certain amount of time and one piece of paper, make a paper airplane and see what design flies the furthest.

We just completed a 3 day project from Stemscopes on States of Matter. The kids were put into groups of 4 and had to design, plan and build a Toy Monster.
They were given a list of supplies that could not exceed $20. It had to meet other criteria as well. Height, width and needed to stand on its own. Took 3 days and all did a great job building and presenting! Hope this helps.
