I saw a similar type of bag awhile back-- but I didn't know "snap bracelets" were around and that you could use them to sew. I do love how you go in depth about making things. I would love a blog where you show and explain things. I took a beginning quilting class and still have to much more to learn

It might be old fabric but it looks great in the the little bags!!

Thanks for the kind words.

These are beautiful.

You did a great job. I have a friend that makes/quilts the same little bags.

I had to laugh about the blood comment.
I was feeling mighty proud of myself as I turn the bag right side out.
You know the feeling --- singing your own praises sort of feeling.
But God always manages to keep me humble, because right there on the cream coloured band was a drop of blood from a pin prick.
Hydrogen peroxide to the rescue and the mark is gone but it was absolutely hilarious at the time.

A friend showed us how to make these bags. I'm not sure if she figured it out or if she got the idea from somewhere else.

I am always in awe of the brilliant and clever ideas people have and also grateful that they share their ideas.

Those are really cool! Where did you get the idea? Or did you come up with it on your own? I would love to try making some myself.

ar719 02-08-2018 04:52 AM

Clearly I am moving too fast!!!
Those are from tape measures cut up!?! And there is no blood evident from slicing your finger on the cut ends!!! Even more amazing!

Maybe we should make some kind of agreement/challenge.
I know I have fabric in the cupboard that I bought my first year of teaching --- 1975.

There is just something about fabric......................... .......... (sigh)

KeyKid 02-07-2018 06:47 PM

How cool are those?! Love your fabric and the channel quilting.

Speaking of fabric you've had a long, long time: I've been putting my sewing/craft space back together after getting a new piece of vinyl flooring after my water heater leak. I have ~so much~ fabric that is on shelves in baskets. I really need to go through this - maybe this summer.

Last one. Here is the open bag.
Just use the tabs to pull the tape measure apart.

Peaches Pears 02-07-2018 03:31 PM

Not sure when this fabric was purchased, but I think it must have been a long long time ago. I think I like channel quilting.

Next view of one bag

The green painter's tape on my kitchen table is there to help me center my quilt backs, batting and tops. I just throw a tablecloth on top. So glad my family is patient with me.

I made 3 bags that snap close using metal tape measures. Yup --- cut up a metal tape measure and use that for the snap closing.

It was a fun project. The first step was to quilt the fabric. I did channel quilting. I love how it looks.

These will make great little gifts.

I will post several pictures so you get the idea.

Sometimes I think I need to start a blog so I can show step-by-step photos.
I am such a teacher.
