This dictionary is a great sample. I am working with undergraduates and wanted to show them one they could copy and replicate and you created a terrific one...thanks

DrB 01-27-2009 04:50 PM

That was a great one for upper elementary grades...thanks for sharing

I have an application that a friend help me make.

I made each alphabet page, then he put them into an application program. You can print up each page individually or all at once (they go from z to a if memory serves).

I also made my own cover, but making a cover to fit your class theme would be a great idea.

I am relatively new to this site, and I think there are minimum requirements in order to upload files.

Let me know if anyone is interested. I can certainly email it to you.

for a printable dictionary preloaded with third/fourth grade words, and designed to photocopy back-to-back to be folded into a booklet which is half the size of an 8 1/2 by 11 paper.

Change words as you please, but be sure to add your own name and grade on last page.

I tweaked a list which a colleague emailed me, and I apologize that I don't ahve the author's name for that original list.

this worked out very well. The kids love it and use it weekly they add our vocab words to it on mondays and use it with their writings all week. THANKS

mrssimon2gr 10-16-2007 03:13 PM

I copied it.
the way you do it is to print 1 to 2 sided and turn every other one upside down....I print out a-z books ---very much the same!

Have a good one!

Ta da--I finally remembered!

It's in 3 documents--the cover page, the alphabet pages, and then the blank "my words" pages.

choochie61 10-08-2007 09:53 AM

I look forward to seeing yours posted!

imacacher 10-07-2007 04:14 AM

I am so sorry for not posting mine.

As I've told a few of you in private messages, I am closing on a new house on Tuesday, and have been trying to prepare for a sub since I have an inservice day on Monday and am out of the district.

I will post mine on Wednesday.

It is similar to the one posted, but it has the 200 Sitton words, and it has the primary (tri) lines instead of regular lines.

The format is also a little different. It gets run front to back, where the left page has all of the Aa words, and then right page says "My Words" and has 20 sets of lines for the students to write their words. The whole book is formatted like that.

Smurfyteach 10-06-2007 12:09 AM

... I'm totally confused as to how to make it into booklet form because it doesn't just load into our copier and do it... I need an order of how to lay the pages or something- I have to tell our copier lady how to do it.

If anyone's been successful, please share your secret!
Thanks.

Ms. Teacher#1 10-05-2007 05:10 PM

This is just what I needed for my students!

Thanks!

If I remember correctly, you just print it as is and take it straight to the copier and sort double sided. Since I made it in word as a booklet, it should come out of your printer with every other page facing the other way.

mrsjames2nd 10-04-2007 12:45 PM

I would like to use these but wanted to know how they work. Can I print it out double sided to save on paper?

TootSweet 10-04-2007 03:36 AM

I made this one a few years ago. It's in word. I put all of the first grade Dr. Fry words on it already and then I have my kids write their 2nd grade words in it. Any other words we use, they add as well.

mrssimon2gr 10-03-2007 05:52 PM

I used one last year...
it was 8 and a half X11 folded...had each letter with about 10 appropriate 2nd grade words and lines for the kids to write more on each page...it also had months of the year, number words, states....
phooey...I could've sworn I saved it!

I will look at enchanted learning.
I am already a member. I love that site!

thanks so much!

I just did a quick google search and found this one:

Printable personal dictionary
http://www.teacherfiles.com/resources_alphabet.htm

imacacher 10-03-2007 05:47 PM

that I think is pretty awesome. We made it using the first 200 words from Rebecca Sitton's list of commonly misspelled words.

Unfortunately, it's at school. It has those 200 words included, along with a blank page for each letter (with primary ruled lines) for the students to include additional words.

Do you have Publisher? I'll post the file tomorrow if you can access it.

Garden Gal 10-03-2007 05:47 PM

EnchantedLearning.com has 2 printable word books with common words and a blank word book for putting personal words in. It would be worth the $20 annual fee to download these books.

mrssimon2gr 10-03-2007 05:35 PM

does anyone have one or know of a site? I used one last year and I know I should have it saved on my computer....I cannot find it!

HELP!
