Any science teachers out there? I teach high school chemistry and biology. I'm in need of bulletin board ideas. I've been so busy since school started and have at least one bulletin board mostly blank and for the others, I just threw something up of them. It has science fabric on it and says "Science is AWESOME!" on it but I can't think of anything else to go on it.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Make a bulletin board out of "chemistry cat" memes. There are hundreds of them and they are so funny!

For bio, a teacher at my school has one with a lab (the dog) wearing proper "lab" attire like goggles, etc....it is so cute!

Seasonal ideas:

-Why do leaves change color in the fall?

-Crystal structure of snowflakes

For example

These aren't mine, but from rooms I've visited:

Scientist of the Week/Month - biographies of scientists, photos, blurbs about their work, etc.

"Hey, Look What I Found!" - kids get to bring in photos or articles they come across relating to science. This can be random, whenever they find things, or you can assign each student a week to decorate the board.

I taught chemistry. Early in the year I assigned each student an element. They created a card for that element that would become part of a big periodic table. We then "built" a periodic table on the bulletin board. As we continued to study, we added features to the table (numbers for periods and groups, names for specific groups, line dividing metals and nonmetals, etc). I had them color code for solids, liquids, and gases. This project involved all my chemistry classes. The table then remained up all year as a reference.

When we did atomic theory, I had students do thumbnail biographies of famous scientists involved in atomic theory and quantum mechanics. We posted them in rough chronological order in 50 year increments.

Just a couple of ideas...

Current events in science is another option...we just barely had the Nobel prizes...

Science trivia/fun facts is another...
