At what point can you just stop reminding your administrator that you need to be evaluated? If she doesn't want to make it a priority, I'm fine with it not happening. But I'm not sure what the ramifications of that would be.

I hate being observed even though it always go well. I have only reminded my admin once, when she asked me to let her know when I returned from a short medical leave. Otherwise, I tell myself that its not my job to remind her to do hers. Once or twice she has completely forgotten about me. I like to assume its because I'm the least of her concerns.

A former student of mine is a teacher in a large district. Her evaluator forgot to do her observations until it was too late. She came one day near the end of school, and my former student had no class to teach. Her seniors had already graduated! I guess something was concocted for the final evaluation. I'm not sure if my student signed it or not.

I don't believe it is your responsibility to ever remind your admin that you have not yet been evaluated. However, I can understand and support the suggestion of reaching out once to CYA.

Remind him/her once to cover yourself. Then you can pull it up as documentation you attempted to set it up. They won't be able to come back on you for it.

Truthfully, it is not your burden, but that of your Evaluator. Them not doing their job should not impact yours.

It isn't your problem that your administrator hasn't evaluated you. It is up to them to take care of it. They would get in trouble if it wasn't done and not you. I see no need to remind anyone about this.

It was my evaluation year a while back, and my principal forgot to observe me. In May she stopped by my room and was a bit frantic about the fact that no observations had been done. She seemed annoyed with me, but it wasn't my fault that she wasn't doing her job. She sent the assistant principal in twice to do observations and somehow managed to get the paperwork in on time.

Are you union? If so, they can tell you what to do. If not, I would document all the times youve told them and then be done with it. Is there a time limit?

I'd email once and be direct.

I don't know about your district, but in the ones I worked in the principal is allowed to do observations via walks in and data collect other ways if they miss the cutoff dates. It's an uphill battle if you "forgot" too. It's especially hard to defend an eval you're not happy with because you can't say it was an off day. The principal will claim they're evaluating you over several walk throughs.

TL;DR: Don't assume this means you'll get a good evaluation/no evaluation unless your handbook/union states so.

Never ever do I remind my admin I'm supposed to be evaluated. That is not my job. If she remembers, great. If not, bummer. We have a clause in our contract that if I don't get evaluated by the deadline I get a note in my file saying I wasn't evaluated due to admin neglect.

Stop reminding your admin. It's not your job. She doesn't remind you to grade papers does she?
