I tried LLI many years ago and didn't like it at all. IMO, it's nowhere near intensive enough for sped. We actually found it didn't really work for our tier 2 kids either and have scrapped it entirely at this point.

The ideas in Fountas and Pinnell are really not research based and teach kids to guess at words rather than giving them the phonics knowledge necessary to actually decode the words. Kids with reading disabilities typically need very intensive, explicit, and systematic direct phonics instruction.

I use SPIRE and 95% Group, but I'm only K-3. 95% Group moves faster while SPIRE is more intensive. Either program would be good for students who are struggling with learning to read or who have holes in phonics/decoding/fluency. If your older kids are just working on comprehension though, it wouldn't really work for them. Our intermediate sped teacher mostly just goes off what is being taught in the gen ed classroom and does a small amount of supplementary phonics instruction using 95% Group.

I love All About Reading and it's fairly reasonably priced. I have had students who reading just didn't click for who finally got it with All About Reading. It moves fairly slow and is systematic. It is also Orton Gillingham based.

I will check these out, I have been practicing with sight words and phonics

Fountas and Pinell is great for students who don't have such intense needs.

I have felt that it has not been effective for sped too, though my mentor raves about it.
Thank You for the leads on differing programs I will seek them out

We've used Rite Flight for our students in SPED who we think have dyslexia, before they're tested. It has helped greatly. We also use the SRA program for phonics instruction for those students missing phonics and decoding skills.

For students with Autism we use a sight word based program like Edmark.

It all depends on the strengths and weaknesses of the students.

Hi I am looking for a good basic reading program.for k_6thI have used Leveled Literacy Intervention.(LLI) Has any one else tried this with resource students? If so what do you think?
