I did this with both Facebook and Instagram two years ago. I had kept the accounts since I was a senior in high school, and just felt like too much of my life was out there. Since deleting them, the content doesn't come up in searches anymore, and the new accounts only have what I post now.

Maybe even start a new FB page and get rid of the old one. Set your privacy to the highest levels (smart move, especially if you plan on teaching older students). Delete any and all posts that are "iffy". Yes, those posts could still be floating around, but there are reasons they tell you to watch what you do on social media.

I hope to become a teacher and I don't recall what I've posted. Yet I'm concerned about deleted Facebook posts like cussing on posts and rap lyrics as a non black guy saying the n word. Athletes have old tweets dug up and some of the accounts may have been deleted. How likely is it that when I'm about to get hired, my old posts may be dug up?
