My book cub read Educated and found it quite interesting. I didn't find the writing style wonderful but the events were riveting. It's amazing that the author was resilient enough to establish herself successfully in adulthood. You can find a Youtube interview with the author on Sunday Soul with Oprah.

I haven't read the book but plan to do it in the near future. The thing about living in an abusive home throughout one's childhood is that the brain eventually learns to block out certain memories or change them as one gets older . This is a well established scientific fact. This change in memories is how some survive abusive childhoods and are called "resilient " by psychologists. The doubting by those who did not live the nightmare but read about it is why many people never report or talk about abuse.

I recently finished it as well. I was also riveted. I will say that her descriptions of abuse hit me in my gut. I felt them viscerally. I don't think they could have been made up. I've also had some experience with narcissistic people and on the whole, I believe her.

I also fell down the rabbit hole of facebook and following the family's essential oil business, and many spirited discussions about the veracity of her side vs. their side.

I recently finished reading it too. Id love to discuss it. I've heard that some of her family refutes the events that happen in the book (mentioning, for example, that three out of the families children achieved PhD, a rate unusual in a family that she claims to have not educated them at all). In any case, I'd love to discuss.

I read it earlier this year. I thought the writing style laborious. The story held my interest for the first half, but stretched my credulity in the entire second half. I know itís supposedly a true story, but it felt hinky to me.

I read it and was horrified by the story. It was a good read, but not what I expected it to be.

We read it for book club about a year ago. It provided one of our more lively discussions

I read it last fall. I found it interesting. I would love to discuss when you finish.

I, too, just finished this and wonít give an opinion about it until youíve finished it. I will say that I recently read another book along the same lines, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, which I found to be riveting as well.

I read it two summers ago. I had to put it down every so often for a day or two to give myself an emotional break. I've read that some believe she's fabricating and/or exaggerating her experiences. I'm taking her at her word.

I just finished it this morning. Very interesting!

I read it for my bookclub. I will wait until you've finished the book before I will give my opinion.

I just saw and read the cover in passing while shop in Target yesterday. I thought it sounded interesting. I am interested in what others have to say about it.

I started reading the book Educated this weekend and I am absolutely riveted. Anyone else read it and want to discuss??
