My district pays every week, 42 paychecks, during the school year. They do have an option where you can get paid a little less every week and then get a larger amount for check #42.

We get paid every 2 weeks.

Marcee 07-30-2019 02:40 PM

on the 30th or the last working day of the month.

TheGr8Catsby 07-30-2019 12:14 PM

We get paid on the 5th of EVERY month, or the weekday before if the 5th is a weekend or holiday.

My old district paid twice a month - on the last weekday of the month and the 15th or the previous weekday.

geoteacher8 07-27-2019 06:02 AM

My pay comes every other week. I have to say that now that we no longer get paper checks, I hardly notice unless I happen to check email the day the deposit is being made.

change2R 07-26-2019 08:01 PM

I get paid once a month on the 21st. At my old district I use to get paid once a month on the 15th. My husband says I still run out of month on the the 15th.

Karyn3rd 07-26-2019 10:29 AM

I am paid 2x per month. Our Pay days are the 15th and 30th of each month. If those days fall on a weekend, it is the Friday before. We are paid over 12 months.

prechrswife 07-26-2019 10:00 AM

We get paid every other Friday for 12 months.

Becca4 07-20-2019 11:26 AM

I get paid twice a month all year long.

tgbwc 07-15-2019 06:24 PM

Once a month on the last workday. No July check. We get paid mid-December on the last workday and then late January.

soleil00 07-13-2019 02:43 PM

1st district - once a month on the 15th

2nd district - twice a month on the 15th and 30th

3rd/current district - once a month on the 26th

bythesea 07-12-2019 08:40 PM

I am extremely lucky and get paid every week. We have a choice of taking a lump sum at the beginning of the summer or every week throughout the summer.

Stacymakingit 07-11-2019 07:57 PM

I get paid on the first of every month!

3monkeys 07-11-2019 07:17 PM

Once a month--on the first of each month.

Tiamat 07-11-2019 05:59 PM

I get paid fortnightly - 26 pays a year.

It's a statewide system, and very common in all industries - friends in private schools and the Catholic system also get paid fortnightly.

My husband in a different job, is also paid fortnightly, but in my off week. We love that because there's a pay in the bank every week.

techgrad 07-11-2019 03:44 PM

1st district: 2 times a month over 12 months

2nd district: 1 time a month on the 25th over 12 months. That stretch from December to January was always tough because we always got paid before the winter break. 6 weeks without a paycheck!

3rd (and current) district: 1 time a month on the 20th over 12 months. I always get payday on my birthday- May 20th!

ZipLine 07-11-2019 06:25 AM

I taught in California and Texas. Both districts paid monthly. Salary spread out 12 months.

Ima Teacher 07-10-2019 07:36 PM

My DH and I work in neighboring public school districts.

I get paid once a month. Itís divided into 12 payments, so I get paid June, July, and August checks at the same time in June.

DH gets paid twice a month. He also gets paid over 12 months, and he gets his pay for June, July, and August over the course of a week in mid June.

klarabelle 07-10-2019 05:34 PM

I would get paid every other week through out the year. I worked in Phila., PA. My Sister works outside Philly & is paid like me except they have an option of 10 or 12 months.

javamomma 07-10-2019 05:23 PM

Once a month / 12 checks
No other options available

Seacrew 07-10-2019 01:00 PM

I've worked for the same district since starting. When I first started it was once a month with the option of being paid 10 or 12 month pay. The 12 month pay is one large check in June.

Several years ago they changed it to every two weeks during the school year with the same option of 10 or 12 month pay, with the 12 month pay as one large check in June.

Only twice I chose the 10 month pay intending to work in summer school, but those were hard to come by and they do it minimally now, so I opt for 12 month which I like, but I have to carefully budget out that big paycheck for the summer and not get too excited over how much money shows up in my account in June!! 😄

Lilbitkm 07-10-2019 12:58 PM

We get paid every other Wednesday, for 10 months. It ends up being 22 checks since some months have an extra week. No checks over the summer.

jov 07-10-2019 12:40 PM

My district pays every week, 42 paychecks, during the school year. They do have an option where you can get paid a little less every week and then get a larger amount for check #42.

Teacher_twins 07-10-2019 12:17 PM

We are paid every other Friday, so bi-weekly. The only exception is if our payday falls on Black Friday, then we are paid the day before Thanksgiving.

Our pay stubs are available on our employee accounts the Tuesday before payday and (for my bank at least) the pending deposit shows up Wednesday.

OrganizedPup 07-10-2019 11:26 AM

Once a month. It sucks. My DH is also a state employee (although not in education) and we get paid around the same time (usually within a couple days of each other). Double sucks.

Linda/OH 07-10-2019 10:54 AM

I get paid twice monthly all year.

linda2671 07-10-2019 10:50 AM

I put all my bills on billpay so they come out of my account automatically. I know how much I have budgeted for those each month, so I know the rest is my discretionary money.

sportsmom88 07-10-2019 10:40 AM

I get paid on the 5th and 20th. I have 24 pay periods. If the days fall on a holiday or the weekend we get paid on the Friday before.

Ally 07-10-2019 10:14 AM

I also get paid 2x a month...the 15th and the last day. If the 15th or the last day fall on a weekend, we get paid the Friday before.

In our district, you decide whether to get paid over the summer or not. You can get paid from Sept to June or you can put money aside each pay day (you decide the amount) and get 2 lump sum payments over the summer, July 15th and Aug. 15th.

I have tried both but I prefer to take a bit less over the year and get two summer pay cheques.

Haley23 07-10-2019 09:59 AM

I get paid once per month, on the last day of the month. I've worked in 3 districts and they've all paid once per month. I guess I'm in the minority, but I love it that way. I pay all of my bills on the 1st- even the ones that aren't due until the 15th, and then I can see what's left for the rest of the month. Getting paid twice and then having to worry about paying different bills out of different checks (plus having to deal with bills 2x per month rather than getting it all done at one time) sounds way more stressful and annoying to me.

SoCalTeach 07-10-2019 09:00 AM

We get paid once a month, on the 5th. It's so hard budgeting for a whole month, but obviously I have no choice.

Tessa_Rue 07-10-2019 08:58 AM

We used to get paid every other Friday, but now we get paid 2x a month. There may be an option for 20 pays though, I think.

twinmom95 07-10-2019 08:28 AM

Every other Friday here, so like others said, usually two times a month but a couple months a year you get paid three times :-). I get 26 checks but on the last day of school we get the 4 summer checks all at once. They don't take health or dental or 403b contributions out of that big summer check so it is way bigger than normal. Woohoo!

FancyFish 07-10-2019 08:28 AM

I get paid every two weeks. That means that there are a couple of months each year where I receive 3 paycheques. We used to get paid a lump sum for the summer at the end of June, but a few years ago it became bi-weekly throughout the year.

SassyTeach 07-10-2019 08:20 AM

I'm in Maine and get paid every other week.

tatapatch 07-10-2019 08:12 AM

We get paid once a month on the last working day of the month. We don't get a paycheck in July.

Like someone else, we get paid in December on like the 15th (whatever the last day of school is for the month), and then don't get paid again until the end of January. Makes for a loooong month!

Dr. A 07-10-2019 08:06 AM

I get paid bi-monthly 15th & last day of month.

If those days fall on Sat. or Sun. then the Friday is payday.

We get paid 12 months automatically.

Our bi-monthly pay was implemented 10 yrs ago after many, many, many years of teacher complaints.

The main complaint-The money is ours & the district makes interest off of our money while it is in the bank until the end of the month.

It is best for our money to be with us rather than the district.

After many years, our district agreed that it was time to change.

We donít have unions but we have teacher organizations & they spoke up for teachers as well.

readerleader 07-10-2019 07:46 AM

That might be something you may consider bringing up to your union for bargaining.

readerleader 07-10-2019 07:45 AM

We get paid every other week throughout the whole year. I could not imagine getting paid once a month.

puzzlemom 07-10-2019 07:40 AM

We get paid once a month here as well. If we teach ESY, we get that pay split up in 2 checks.

Tsy2013 07-10-2019 07:24 AM

We get paid the 25th of each month, if that is a holiday or weekend we get paid before.

WGReading 07-10-2019 07:11 AM

Last Friday of the month. 12 months.

TeacherPK6 07-10-2019 07:02 AM

I get paid every other week. I have the option to have it all in the 10 months of my contract, or to have it spread out over 12 months (which is what I do).

readandweep 07-10-2019 06:51 AM

I get paid every two weeks, so sometimes I get paid three times in one month. However, things like insurance premiums and other pre-tax deductions are not taken out of that third check.

My previous district paid twice a month on the 15th and last day of the month.

My previous district also offered to not stretch your pay checks out over the summer. My current district only offers the pay all calendar year long - including hourly employees.

MayCee 07-10-2019 06:48 AM

We get paid once a month on the last working day of the month. In December we get paid our last working day- which is usually around the 15th. The adjust our January paycheck to be earlier because of the long time in between.

The last district I worked in got paid 2x per month for 10 months and then a lump sum at the end of June for the remainder of the summer.

Teacherbee_4 07-10-2019 06:48 AM

In every place I've worked, you get to pick if you want to be paid all year or just during the school year. Pay day is every other Friday. However, in my first district, it did start as every other Friday, but then they changed it to the 7th and 20th of every month or something like that.

I pick the full year option, so I get paid in the summer as well.

I've worked in both public and parochial.

forkids2 07-10-2019 06:39 AM

We get paid once a month. I like that and think it makes things simpler, but everyone is different.

What if you put half your paycheck in savings and transfer it to checking at the midpoint. Would that make managing the money easier for you if you only dealt with two weeks/half the money at a time?

WordFountain 07-10-2019 06:33 AM

I got paid 20x/10 months - the 15th & 30th. I canít imagine only getting paid 1x/month. I save & budget to pay myself over the summer.

all41 07-10-2019 06:16 AM

I get 24 paychecks over the course of my contract year; August-July. We get paid on the 15th and 30th of each month. The first district I taught at paid us once monthly during the school year and twice over the summer. We didn't get our first check for the year until mid-October, we would get one mid-June and mid-August. That was tough pay schedule to buget and plan around.

choppie70 07-10-2019 06:10 AM

We get paid every other week, so I get two pay checks a month. Some months I may get three checks depending on when pay day falls.

I work for a public school in Maine and all the districts I have ever worked for has done it this way.

Kinderkr4zy 07-10-2019 06:06 AM

I had read a lot of posts recently that include some reference to getting paid multiple times a month. I was wondering if this is common everywhere else because its not around here.

We get paid once a month (for 11 or 12 checks a year) and that is standard-its the same in all districts far and wide as far as I know. It was the same when I worked in other towns and when I work in a charter school. The only time I got paid twice a month was when I worked for a private school.

I dont like it as a single mom since it really requires a special affinity for budgeting and the end of the month feel rather long waiting for a pay check but for me thats the only option.

So, public school teachers how often do you get paid.
