Why do you feel it is too controversial?

elicit the parents help for this....Tell her the theme you are looking for... BTW I would avoid this book too controversial...especially the underlying theme.

Thanks, I will take a look at it. I ended up telling the parent to find a book that has the same theme. I am interested to see what she comes up with.

I loved The Girl With the Silver Eyes when I was 9 or 10.
Or maybe a book by Diana Wynne Jones? She wrote some great fantasy books that have a lot of literary/mythological references.

I’ll check it out. Thanks!

I love “The Girl with the Silver Eyes”. It’s an old book about a girl with telekinetic powers.

Has anyone read "When you Reach Me," would that work?

Why does the parent not want the child to read it? If you look at others in the same genre, you might have the same objections.

My first thoughts were: The Magician's Nephew or The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe or Ella Enchanted.

I have a parent that doesn't want their child to read A Wrinkle in Time, any suggestions for a comparable chapter book she could read while we are reading Wrinkle?
