The Writing Revolution is something I learned about from various secondary FB groups. This summer I found out my district is doing a pilot of this program.

I believe the author is Hochman.

I read the first half of the book. They use the materials you're working on in class, OR whatever the kids find engaging. It's not a new concept, but it's put together. The downfall is you're creating ALL of your materials and lessons because you are using whatever you're instructing on.

i've read some really interesting and positive testimonials from the program.

I'm in Virginia where we don't have Common Core, but have Standards of Learning (similar to Common Core). I teach in an urban middle school where we had only a 62% pass rate on the writing standard test. My new principal has asked if any of us know a successful program that would help our students improve their writing skills. Does anyone have any suggestions?
