What are your requirements for minutes per subject, number of specials, etc? All that feeds into what your schedule would need to look like.

When I student taught that was the breakdown we had, I taught with the ELA/SS teacher. It humanities in 1 class and the 2 sciences taught by 1 teacher each. There was a total of 6 classes.

2 math teachers
2 science teachers
2 ELA/SS teachers
Each teacher had a homeroom.

We are departmentalized with 3 teachers:
-science/social studies (this teacher also does a brief language lesson-about 10 minutes)
We have 85 minutes for each class.
With 4 teachers, we have done 2 teams of 2. Each teacher taught their own ELA and then we switched classes for math & science/social studies.

We are one grade level that departmentalizes together, not sure how it will work to mix grade levels (or did I misunderstand that?)

But we sometimes have four classes and sometimes three.

When we have four classes we split into teams of two. So one teacher teaches ELA (reading & writing, and the other teacher is responsible for math, science, and social studies (we alternate science/social studies so each teacher teaches two content areas). The other two teachers are split the same way so kids move between two classrooms.

When we have three classes one teacher teaches reading, one teaches math, and the third is responsible for writing, science/social studies. Kids move between three classrooms here.

Are you going to be teaching any components to your homeroom? This allotment is totally unbalanced. On a trip like this, it is imbalanced for an ELA teacher to teach ELA by itself. Social Studies, at least, should go to the science teacher. They should also probably take language and/or writing.

Now if you're all teaching the reading standards to your homeroom (or the writing and language), it could also work.

My team and I are probably going to departmentalize next year. We were looking at example schedule but think we needed to see more examples. We are departmentalizing 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. I will be doing Math, one teacher does ELA/SS, one does Science.
