Was wondering what evryone does for mothers day in the classroom? I want to invite my students mothers into the classroom but I am not sure what I want them to do. My district has a strict policy( no food to be served unless from our certified kitchen- SO food is out of the question). Does anyone do a special program/song for the moms?

I have my kids bring in a small box that they decorate and then put a small school photo in. They sing the song by Dr. Jean "A Box For Mommy" and present their little gifts to thier moms. They also make a book for their mom and read it to her and sing songs and poems. It's a great day to honor moms.

... and the children recite a book "My Mum" by Anthony Browne or something similar. And then we have an afternoon tea (which you can't do, I understand) and a little papercraft (set up a few easy crafts on different tables) or play time for about half an hour. We invite the come for basically the last hour of the day before pick up.
