Megteach's Message:

We are not basing our ELA instruction on our previous reading series--Treasures--this coming school year. No consumable workbooks were ordered. We need to create our own formative assessments following the Common Core. We are getting together in August to work on assessment ideas.

Measures of Academic Progress--MAP--is our means of benchmark assessment for grades 4-8; DIBELS is used for grades 1-3. There is a possibility that DIBELS will be used in grade 4 next year. These produce data to help drive the necessary instruction.

Anyone out there who has already gone through the process of creating their own assessments for ELA? How many of you use projects for assessment? (I'm feeling overwhelmed...)

TIA
