Hello Everyone!

I wanted to get some advice/tips on
how to prepare for student teaching?
I would love to hear your experiences such as what worked for you, what did not work for you, what would you have done differently, and whatever else you feel a future teacher should know.

Thank you Zulbi for your very open and honest post! I appreciate it. You cleared up a lot of things for me and now i feel better about what to expect when my time comes. I will definitely keep your advice in mind.

Everyone says you either have an AMAZING CT or an awful one.. My first one was a bit self-centered, she wanted me to be her assistant. Asked me to cut papers all day and file her papers. She wanted to do it her way the . My second half of student teaching, I had a ct who was willing to try new things. When I was being observed the second half my supervisor said to me "you are more comfortable with upper grade". Which wasn't the case, I was comfortable with the classroom environment. I was able to try and fail without no negativity.

Advice: You are NOT an assistant. You are another teacher in the classroom.
If you feel like you're not being treated fairly, don't be afraid to ask to change your CT.
Don't be afraid to try new things.
Ask for help
Ask questions
Build relationship with the kids
Ask if you can attend PLC's / parent conferences etc.
You are not being paid to come super early/ or leave super late. Few times a week is fine, but don't feel like you have to stay if your CT is staying.
Have fun
