I have to come up with a measurable goal for my students and it has to be measurable. (ex. 80% of my students will...) This is so tricky with Ks and I don't want to pick a goal that is going to be stressful/difficult to achieve. I want it to be worthwhile and developmentally appropriate.
Any ideas? One idea was a goal to read/write kindergarten sight words by the end of the year...

For the end of the year? I would say that 80% of students can sound out and/or write cvc words.

considering the kids are supposed to be reading at a level D by the end of the year, I think I need a loftier goal (ugh) We have totally inappropriate goals for Kindergarten- so sad.

Are you allowed to do something like identifying letter names and sounds? Or is that not "rigorous" enough? If allowed, I'd personally do that over sight words.
