Our fourth grade buddies will be joining us next week to make a simple mouse ornament using felt and a candy cane. The children need a couple of patterns for the body and ears. They use googley eyes and a small pom pom nose. Two slits are cut in the mouse's body for the candy cane to go through so it can be hung. It's really cute and doesn't take long to make.

Glphs are a great way to go with buddies. Here is a link for a snowman glyph.

Depending on time and resources you could also do graham cracker gingerbread houses with buddies. Our older buddies help the youngers decorate. The materials are supplied by the parents of the younger students so they take the houses home.

Hello all! I know that there have been lots of holiday craft ideas being thrown out there. Here's a twist though:

Any great ideas about crafts that 4th grade reading buddies could help my 1st graders do? We'll have over 40 students in the room (or we could divide the class and have half in my room, half in the other). Suggestions?

Thank you all so much!!! You're fabulous.
