Hello!! I'm looking for some good reading activities to do next week with my Third graders. I would really like to use a different Christmas book each day and focus on one skill like Cause and Effect, Sequencing, Main Idea, Summarizing, Compare and Contrast etc... My mind is completely blank on which books I should use and for what skill.. I guess Iím ready for Christmas break.. lol Thanks

I put my entire selection of Christmas picture books out right after Thanksgiving. Each child picks one to practice and read to the class during story time. They sit in my chair and show the pictures, just like I usually do. I grade them on fluency, voice level, etc. They love it. In about ten years, I've only had 1 student lose my book!
