I was wondering what others do out there in regards to the order that they teach reading skills and strategies. I have begun with fiction and nonfiction features and the genres associated with each. I was wondering should I have the students do activities and projects on the fiction story elements, then create a nonfiction features book, and then introduce the reading strategies or start with strategies? Just thought might flow better the first way. Looking for advice and opinions. Thank you!
