SportingKC's Message:

I have really been working on balance between work and home this year. One of the things I realized is that I follow a lot of teachers on both Facebook and Instagram. Most of the time I really enjoy getting and sharing ideas. But there are just times of the year that I am DONE and want nothing to do with teaching outside of my workday.

I've been able to "snooze" Facebook groups & specific people for enough time to mentally disconnect. I haven't been able to find a way to do that for Instagram. I've been contemplating creating a second Instagram account only for my teaching people so I can just not look at it when I'm needing a mental break.

Has anyone done this? Any advice?

I did end up creating a separate account last night, and moving all of my "teaching" people over to that account. We will see how I like it, but it wasn't as much work as I thought it would be.

I have multiple Instagram accounts for different interests, including one for teaching. Iíve only been on that account once during break.

Iím about to go on strike, and I follow several union/parent Facebook pages. I keep posting on FB, too. Iíve been constantly online and I need to pull back. The influx of info is making me anxious.

You can MUTE on Instagram (not see stories or feed) without the person knowing. Works great:

You won't see their feeds or stories unless you search for them. You can then watch stories or read their feed when you want without unmuting them.

I have the same feelings. I follow a lot of teachers, as well. BUT, there are days/weeks when I just don't want to see that. I wish Instagram had a snooze button!
