Main testing we do at beginning of school year for reading is STAR and fluency. That gives us a general idea where to begin!

We participate in district wide testing, for reading we complete the TPRI test or DRA2...you should be able to google both...they are great to see where students are in their reading to gauge small groups, reading abilities, etc. I dont teach math, so I cannot help there!

School Wide the students are tested in math and literacy using MAP testing. In my classroom we use Otter Creek for basic multiplication facts (students progress at their own rate), Words Their Way for Spelling (I have three groups of spelling, so that students are working on skills they are ready to learn), and I benchmark for reading.
All of this testing may take about 4 weeks.

Hello-
I was just wondering what type of testing/evaluation everyone does for Math and reading at the beginning of the year. Any attachments or examples would be most welcomed. I'm just trying to change things up a bit so I'm interested in seeing what everyone else does.
