What a great reminder for the beginning of the school year. I'm going to print a copy and put it in my Everything notebook! Thanks again.

Thanks for sharing! This is a great quote to think about as a new school year begins.

Here is another one I found that I liked too. I hope you do too.

"Teachers are expected to reach unattainable goals with inadequate tools. The miracle is that at times they accomplish this impossible task." Unsourced

Thanks for the reminder of this wonderful quote. I am going to put it next to my desk to see every day. We really do have so much responsibility and influence!

Our principal gives us each a copy of this each year in our staff handbook! It is a nice reminder of our job!!

I first read this quote when I was in my education program in college. Came across it again today when I was rereading The First Days of School. It's something to keep in mind as we prepare for school! I also made a pdf poster version I'm going to hang in my room.

I have come to a frightening conclusion.
I am the decisive element in the classroom.
It is my personal approach that creates the climate.
It is my daily mood that makes the weather.
As a teacher I possess tremendous power to make a child’s life miserable or joyous.
I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration.
I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.
In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a child humanized or dehumanized.
