Instead of "Let the Games Begin", I put a Twister spinner on my board along with the words "Twisting in a New Year" It was an idea I found a long time ago, but never used. It's perfect for this!

The data board is all new to us this year. If you come up with more ideas for boards with this theme, I would love to hear them. It would be fun to change them up every now and then.

SOTRainbow 08-18-2011 06:32 PM

I was thinking about "Let's Check,Mate" for a title with pictures/drawings of chess pieces.

specialedmath 08-13-2011 01:09 PM

On your scholar, what are the individual chess pieces made from?

It is nice to see other ideas. I, too, am doing gameboard. You don't happen to have an idea for a data wall do you?

Thank you....

In my previous post, I mentioned that I teach World Geograpy, Cultures, History. (6th)

I'm thinking of a bulletin board with "Capture the Flag" It will contain some of the flags from the continent we happen to be studying.

Also "Studying the past and present helps us CONNECT 4 understanding" (that needs a little work)

Let the Games Begin! (Outside board for the beginning of the year) - 1st project - my students will research game origins and write information about the game onto a large index card and include a picture (either drawn or printed) I was also thinking about graphing favorite games.

To add to the Cheese it idea for your open house, you could put some crackers on scrabble trays and even label them with the letters HELP YOURSELF

You are incredibly creative. I would have never thought to do a game theme. Great job on the classroom. Your students will love it and be so motivated by it.

SOTRainbow 08-09-2011 05:02 PM

I think I am going to borrow it!!! I teach World Geography and Cultures and I'm thinking about a "Games around the World." theme. I pulled up some games on the internet and am looking up their origins ... maybe map them? I think "Game Day" as a reward would be motivating, too. I really love the boards you have made.

doden 08-06-2011 05:23 PM

I have been working on game things all day!! I can't wait to get them up in my room and I'll post pictures too!

mrsjames2nd 08-05-2011 07:03 PM

I love unique themes like this one! Love it!

hhillhs 08-05-2011 06:03 AM

Doden...of course you can steal ideas!! That's why I share them (and where do you think I got my ideas?!?) :-)

Beachmom24...I don't do class jobs because I am awful at remembering to change them. I just use a scholar of the week (which is my checkmate this year), and that person does everything I need. If you wanted to do jobs you could do a generic game board with a job on each space (or every other space) and names on game pawns. You could move the game pawns around to change the jobs.

beachmom24 08-04-2011 04:41 PM

Any ideas for a way to incorporate classroom jobs?

doden 08-03-2011 07:38 PM

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your room! Thanks for posting. I may have to steal some of your you object?

Head Honcho 08-03-2011 07:00 AM

I think you are a very creative person to come up with all those great ideas! I just love it, and I know your kids will too!

JackieMazz 08-03-2011 12:26 AM

you could also try to use Homework Monopoly, which someone posted on here a few years ago... it goes with your theme and kids love it!!

garcia 08-02-2011 01:26 PM

You did an OUTSTANDING job! LOVE your room and I'm sure your students will as well!

IndyRae 08-02-2011 01:15 PM

Another absolutely outstanding room! What a fun teacher, theme, and year your students will have.

ouishter 08-01-2011 09:01 PM

hhillhs 08-01-2011 01:19 PM

Here is the other part of the game board.

hhillhs 08-01-2011 01:18 PM

Thank you all for the compliments!! I have had so much fun with this theme! I am ready to have it all put together and see how the completed room looks.

misscrig - I teach 3rd grade.

BabsTheTeach - I posted those earlier this summer, but I am attaching them again because it's easier than looking. ;-) I just had them enlarged to 11 x 17 at Office Depot and then put them together on the wall. There are two files (one with words and one with pictures).

BabsTheTeach 08-01-2011 12:58 PM

I'd love to see a more clear picture of your "Game of Life" wall. I like the sayings on the pieces but can't read them all. Would you be able to post another picture or tell me where you got the sayings? Thanks! Awesome room by the way!!

luvbees 08-01-2011 11:57 AM

You are so clever!

misscrig 08-01-2011 09:13 AM

You did a wonderful job!

ilove2 08-01-2011 08:03 AM

I love your style and look forward each year to seeing your pictures. I have used a few of your ideas previously including the document to put students names on sodas (thanks for sharing) for my food theme that I can't seem to give up yet!

WELL DONE and good luck with your new kiddos...they will love the new game environment !

LUVMY2 08-01-2011 07:27 AM

FutureMrs.W 07-31-2011 07:56 PM

You did a wonderful job... The way you incorporated the different games was very creative!

hhillhs 07-31-2011 07:52 PM

Here is the game board that is on my back wall (ran out of R's in the title).

hhillhs 07-31-2011 07:50 PM

I will have my rules and consequences posters here. My classes will earn the letters for a class reward.

hhillhs 07-31-2011 07:47 PM

Here is my science favorite board. :-)

hhillhs 07-31-2011 07:45 PM

Scholar of the Week...I will have kids' names on the chess pieces and will rotate each week.

hhillhs 07-31-2011 07:43 PM

This is my info board with my calendar, newsletter, and birthdays. I have little checkers to write kids' names and birthdays.

hhillhs 07-31-2011 07:41 PM

This is the hallway decoration. I will also have game pawn labels for the backpack hooks.

hhillhs 07-31-2011 07:38 PM

Here are the pictures of my classroom this year. I am NOT finished yet, but I wanted to go ahead and share a few. I am patiently waiting for my class list so I can finish all of my labels. :-)

This is the outside of my door. The inside of my door will be the Guess Who game with pictures of my kiddos.
