netflixheroes's Message:

Working one on one with a kindergartener all next week who needs constant redirections that are "disguised" AKA I cannot tell this student "focus" or "pay attention" as these are trigger words. The teacher is unable to share much information with me due to FERPA and has not found a method that works for them yet. This student does not have a regular paraeducator but teacher/admin/parents are pushing district to consider the option.

Anyway... does anybody have any "tips" or "tricks" I could use?

Thank you,

netflixheroes

I, too, would be happy to help. Haven't been on this board before. I have been a gen. ed. and sped teacher, currently a para.

This board doesn't get a lot of action. I'm sorry you did not get a response to your post. I forget to check this board most of the time myself. I am a teacher, currently working as a para. Should you post again and don't get a response private message me to check the para board and I will be happy to try to respond. I know what it is like to want advice from other paras, or teachers for that matter. Also, paras are allowed to post to other boards on Proteacher if that helps.
