I'm a self-contained teacher and at my school for the past 2 years all of the self-contained sped teachers wrote SLOs that were fairly similar. They gave us a goal bank of sorts and then we tailored those goals to meet our specific needs. I had one goal tied to student data based on their behavior IEP goals (I was teaching in an ED program) that was measured by daily point card data, one goal tied to reading fluency IEP goals that was measured by DIBELs, and one goal tied to mathematics IEP goals measured by a district math screener we give three times a year.
I just looked up the goals we could choose from and tweak:
____% of the target group of students with behavioral goals (linked to achievement) will meet the goals established as determined by the data collected across at least _____ weeks during the current school year.
____% of the target group of students with achievement goals will meet the goals established as determined by the data collected across at least _____ weeks during the current school year.
The target group of students will show an increase of ___% by the last interim assessment in language, as compared to the first interim assessment during the current school year. (target should be 5% higher or attain/maintain 90% or higher)
The target group of students will show an increase of ___% by the last interim assessment in mathematics, as compared to the first interim assessment during the current school year. (target should be 5% higher or attain/maintain 90% or higher)

My reading group is a pullout from reg ed...all kids with IEP's and goals for language arts. My SLO is for these kids. Teacher Effectiveness is in addition to the other paperwork I need to take care of for my caseload.

Is this in addition to. IEP goals and objectives, or is this for regular 43rd students?

Yes...I scan data into our program...there are many and all probably a little different from each other..we use My Learning Plan...anyway-DIBELS would provide info to use...does your school use PALS testing? That is what we use. I do not know if there has to be any specific size of a group of kids to monitor for progress. I don't think so. The whole process is a lot of work and adds stress to the year. Good Luck.

This is helpful, thank you. Do you have to scan assessments with an Ipad into V-port? I am thinking of a small group of K-1 students, and just using Letter Naming and/or Letter Sound Fluency from DIBELS. Are you required to use a certain number of students?

leslier 08-28-2015 02:23 AM

Student Learning Objectives which are now required by most teachers and is part of the teacher effectiveness measurement which becomes part of our end of year evaluation.

Again with the Acronyms...

What are SLOs?

we are in our 2nd year of teacher effectiveness and we have to write SLO's that are SMART...specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound...I am writing this year's for a reading group I am teaching. My goal is to increase the average reading scores of these kids by the end of the year using a couple of different tests to collect the data, which I will do 3 times a year.
I only need one goal. I am using the same goal for all the kids in this one reading group.

This is the first year we are required to do SLO's and I have to admit that I did not work on these over the summer. Since school started things have been typically crazy (no asst. and a new student that requires 1:1) SLO's are due next week and I really have a poor understanding and have not been able to collect my baseline data due to one students' behavioral needs. I understand that we have to collect data and put it in V-port? I think this is the same place as Voyager? which I do not currently use. Everyone else is so busy, it's hard to ask for help. Can I use the same goal for all? How many goals do I actually need? I am K-2 Learning LAB which is every category. Is anyone out there up to date on this that could share what you are doing? Trying not to stress out...
