After I get through my curriculum, I like to let the kids play with code.org. It's not too heavy (like the other stuff we do, i.e. Powerpoint presentations and spreadsheets) and they get a taste of how coding works.

Students use Google Sites to create their ePortfolios. The ePortfolios are a snapshot of their year in school. This is the talking point for student-led conferences in the spring.

I really like Kidblog as well! The quality of work students produce dramatically increases when students blog. The entire world may see their writing so they want it to be their best.

Thank you everyone!

dutchgirl, I teach K-8 so it's a wide range of skills, etc.

My students love using Storyboard That! We start out slow using it to recreate the myth of Medusa. Then students use it when they create their own Greek Mythology characters!

Thank you for your ideas! I know some of them, but others are new to me. This is why I love PT!

I teach 2nd grade gifted. I'm enjoying using code.org, Kahoot, let's recap.com, and Google classroom.

Dutchgirl I'm pretty sure I would use just about everything here with my year 3 kids (aged 7-8), and up to any ages. There's some things good for younger kids too. A lot of fabulous ideas for middle school kids.

This will be my second year using Google Classroom. It helps prepare students for 21st Century College and Career Skills. I use Google Forms to prepare basic math fact quzzes that can be self graded and video listening skill activites. I also use Front Row for math intervention. The kids love it and it adapts to their instructional level.

I love using google classroom with my kids. This is our jumping board for all technology assignments. I also use Kidblog, vocabulary.com, and google drive.

Thus year I have started to use Kidblog. So far I really like it. I also use Weebly to create a class website and kids take turns updating it weekly. Moby Max is another must have.

This is my first year teaching technology. I love seeing your ideas! I am teaching middle school. I'd like to know what grade levels you are teaching these skills/applications..

ITchComputers 09-17-2016 10:37 PM

Always start the year out with every class (K-8) drawing a self-portrait in a graphics program. So great to see the progression in drawing skills throughout the years. 8th grade looks back on all the self-portraits they have done.

Love doing activities for Dot Day. Use the Quiver app with at least one grade to bring student drawn dots to life.

Always do coding and robots with students - this is always fun! Use a variety of apps, websites, etc.

Wow, fabulous ideas here everyone. Keep them coming!

My current favourite to use with my kids is Google slides. They love to made homework presentations in it, but we also use them collaboratively in class - each kid fills in a slide. It's a great tool, and very flexible

I really love teaching my students and allowing them to use cool Technology apps, like Kahoot, Quizizz, Socrative, iMovie TRailers, iMovies, and Prezi's! We starting using Canvas last school year and are now turning in assignments via Canvas. We are able to do discussion threads, find assignments, turn in assignments online, and take tests/quizzes in the app. I feel like students exit their Junior year having used an assortment of technology apps and having gained a better appreciation of technology.

I teach at an University and teach undergraduate Education majors. One of my favorite things to teach them is how to create an interactive game. I use PowerPoint and all of the interactive buttons and hyperlinks to have them create a game on any subject and for any grade level. Their students in their classes love "playing" the interactive game either as relearning information or practicing the skills before a test.

I love the Hour of Code as well.

I like teaching the littlest ones how to draw in Paint. They don't realize that it's also a way to refine their mouse skills as well as learning about the menu bar.

I love code.org!! I do the hour of code using code.org and the kids love it! I have fun teaching it too.

I really love Seesaw for digital student portfolios and Google Classroom.

I love creating Promethean flip charts for my students. I love how quickly they learn to navigate the board, toggle between functions, and even teach me things.
