I used to have my carpet in the back of the room and the student desks facing the SmartBoard. Last year, I switched midyear so that the carpet is in front of the SmartBoard. The kids are able to stay focused better, and I really like having them up close. This also means that the board is separated slightly from the desks for a SmartBoard center (less of a distraction). The kids enjoy it because they are able to see it from their seats, but when I am teaching from it directly, they can move to the carpet and get out of their desks.

Hello. Just wondering where in your room the smart board is located. Do you have a carpet area for the kids to sit in front of it. I am debating switching my room around to give kids a large carpeted area to sit in front of it, rather than being at their desks. Thanks!
