In the moment I probably would have responded in the way you did, but I do like the response Grace gave better.

Perhaps you were accidentally not given an invite? Either way, next time maybe say "I did not get an invite."

I was in another classroom yesterday and my friend asked,"hey are you going to <mutual friend's> tomorrow?" Um....I was not invited. I was caught off guard and just said no...awkwardly. I am guessing friend 1 assumed I would be invited because our friend group typically does things all together. I have been overanalyzing this all day while at training. Oh and the mutual friend with the event happening at her house left a card on my desk today celebrating our friendship. I found it when I got back to work from training and I felt more awkward after that but when i saw her i thanked her for the card.

Dont think i stayed at home pity partying though. I had plans to go with a friend for pedicures and coffee and then come home for family movie night with my kids but it was still confusing and awkward. Did I handle things ok?
