I recently finished reading this book as a read aloud to my class, and they loved it. Thank you so much for encouraging me to read it. Most of them said it was their favorite of the year!

I finished this book as a read aloud to my third grade class, and they absolutely loved it! They did not want me to stop reading each day. A definite must read!

My class ( 3rd and 4th) loved hearing the book and begged for read aloud often. The chapters were short enough that they could be read during a break from a lesson or before a transition time. I also found bookmarks with quotes from the book that I laminated for my class.

It is so great to hear people's positive reviews. This book is next on my list when we finish what we are reading now. Thanks for all the positive comments!

Just finished it as a read aloud to my class! They didn't want me to stop reading it. Absolutely a favorite by all students!

My class loved it, and it spurred a lot of really important discussions afterwards. We all cried, but that was good too. I think it's important to let the students see how great literature affects us all.

My kids loved the book and so did I. They begged to read it anytime we had a few minutes.

Just about to finish this book. My students have loved it and I will certainly read it again next year. They are lining up to borrow the book as soon as I read the last page.

My third graders LOVED this book. Our entire school is going to use it next year as a shared experience with ll students reading it with their classes. There is also a picture book about the same story for younger student by the same author...highly recommend this book. It is nice to see a book written with such beautiful language for this age group.

I teach third grade and my students loved this book. There were very touching parts and a few tears shed. We were happy with the ending and I plan to read it every year.

Anyone used this as a read aloud for their 3rd grade class? I have been debating on whether to use it or not. I have never read it to my class before, but I just finished reading it myself, and I personally loved it. I am worried some of my students might be too sensitive to the sadder parts, although I do think they would benefit from hearing it. Any thoughts?
