Does anyone have any suggestions or books that you use for writing prompts in the resource room? I have 1 8th grade ELA class and they are low so I need basic prompts but not too silly or they won't do them. Should I look for 5/6th grade? prompts or something else?

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I usually change it up and/or add a related question and ask for additional details or they try to just write a single sentence or two. I also went over a rubric about how the Journal entry should look.

I found the rubric online as a Word doc and tweaked the points and descriptions to meet our needs. I don't count off for spelling or grammar right now as I am looking more for thoughts ideas and longer writing samples.
