We are told to begin ordering supplies for next school year. Not sure how we are teaching yet, so I am thinking basics for now: glue sticks, paper clips, markers, etc. So my question is this- do you have an absolute essential for kindergarten?

Are you talking consumable supplies? If so, my yearly list (between what the school orders, what I get, and what we ask parents to donate) is pencils, crayons, markers, glue sticks, glue bottles, baby wipes, paper towels, tissues, hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, black sharpies, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk pastels, pencil box, 3 prong folders, 2 spiral notebooks, tape, stickers, post-it notes, and I think that's it. Obviously I also use staples, paper clips, copy paper, pushpins, pens, markers, scissors, all of that kind of office stuff.
