Hi everyone! I get to go into my new school and lead a summer book discussion with lower and upper elementary tomorrow (Group 1: K-3 and Group 2: 4-6) for a summer book party thrown by the librarian. There are not any specific books she mentioned in her email, so I think it's pretty general -- checking up on what everyone is reading and sharing it with peers to keep the reading going for the last half of the summer. By the way, this is the first time I'll be meeting people in the school and I'm SUPER NERVOUS, which will throw off my natural "teacher grace" HAHA!

- Any suggestions for jumpstarting a discussion on summer reading with K-3 and 4-6?

- Any new books that you feel MUST be talked about with both age groups?

I'm switching from 3rd grade in a different district, to 5th grade in this school. I'm really not an expert at the young adult literature :-(
