Hello there! Thanks for asking! He went with the Working on the Railroad song and dressed as an engineer. Once he got into it, he really loved it!(Except for the written report part!) Go figure! When I looked at that rubric, I said I'd never be able to do all that or assign all that. But he was really excited! Kids!! Go figure!!!

How is his project going?

Kahluablast, my niece and I said the same thing. However the teacher sent a rubric and it is all part of the grade. Thanks for your great ideas!!!

Is it possible that he only has to do one or two of these things?

I personally would have to ask the teacher about it. At my school, that project would take a year!

Think older music, maybe? The Erie Canal? Working on the Railway... dress? Overalls with a train conductor hat. Dress pants and tie with pens and pocket protector. Those songs should be easy enough to find info on history.

I am a recently retired teacher. My family still uses me as a resource which I love but I feel I'm out of my league here!!! My great nephew is in 3rd grade. His music teacher assigned each student to become a Meeple character. I've never heard of Meeples but I now know they are in the gaming world. Anyway, he is to be an engineer. He has to find a song that matches his Meeple, research the history of the song, play it in class, dress in character and finish with a two page report/ presentation. Holy smokes!!!! I don't know how to help! Any song ideas???

And is this a lot for a third grade music class? Maybe I really am old school!
