I have read Because of Mr. Terupt with my class. It was just ok. I only read it once and never again. It wasn’t one of the read aloud that I looked forward to. I am going to look into Front Desk- I haven’t heard of that one. I have seen Wish, but I haven’t read it. Thanks for sharing your list

I usually read

Wishtree
Crenshaw
When You Reach Me
Save me a Seat
Out of My Mind (Really long but so good.)
Joey Pigza swallowed a Key (kids love this one.)

I love the Raime series but wasn't sure how it would work for a read aloud. I also read Front Desk earlier this year and forgot about it as a read aloud. I was also thinking about the book Wish. Has anyone read Because of Mr. Terupt to their class? I am currently reading Hello Universe and want to read A Boy Called Bat before the end of summer.

I am thinking maybe Front Desk and Wish to start my year off?

Loser is a fave of mine by jerry spinelli
Fish in a tree
Tales of a 4th grade nothing

Tons of picture books - I love using these in my classroom.
The jelly donut difference.
My mouth is a volcano
Mr peabodys apples
A bad case of the stripes
After the fall

That's all I have in my head but I know there are so many more I bought this summer that I'm excited about!!!

If you do a google search for Global Read Aloud there is a book that has been selected...Front Desk. It is based on the author's real life. There are some opportunities to participate in activities.
I plan on reading:
Front Desk
Wish Tree
The One and Only Ivan
Save Me a Seat
Fish in a Tree
Julian's Chapter
Raime
Louisianna's Way Home

Also will be incorporating a bunch of SEL books this year. This is going to be a big focus this year and will approach it with picture books and activities

I love Eve Bunting and will read “Yard Sale.”

Out of curiosity, what are you planning on reading?

What are you read aloud plans for the new year? I am looking for newer books to read to my 4th graders. I have read a lot of books this summer but not sure they would make for a good read-aloud. I would love to hear what books you plan to read aloud this year.
