Hello friends, I need your help. I want to do chapter books w my high group but I'm not sure how to go about it. I have the books but what's the procedure? Do I use them for guided reading or do I assign a chapter to be read at home with questions and then discuss the next day in guided reading group? Please help me!

Thank you so much! That's what I'm thinking also. I may send it home. We do have to send homework.
Thank you!!

Since we have a "no homework" policy, taking the book home is not an option. But, I never did this anyways in other schools. I break each book up into sections (so they will have enough to read for a few days in class), and put a sticky note there for them as a "stop sign". Since they are taught how to read, record their thinking on a "think mark" and then expand their thinking in their journals ....this is what they are expected to do during read to self or someone and they are to choose "respond to Reading" ( my version of Work on Writing") to be ready for our meeting that I schedule. It works really well. I've done this at my current grade, 3, all the way up to 6 th grade.
