I like the fish bowl idea..did something similar with paper links...started at the ceiling and for every compliment, they received a link and any bad report from specialists or other teachers...a link was removed....when the links reached the floor...they got a special treat!

I teach fourth grade, and I use the card method. This has worked really well. The children do not move any cards back during the week. I reward the children who have kept their card on blue-awesome or purple-warning for the whole week by eating lunch in the classroom with me on Fridays. The children really work hard for the reward because they also get to watch a movie. I also use tickets to reward positive behavior by catching children doing great things. I will draw tickets out of a fish bowl on Wednesdays and Fridays. The children love the opportunity to get in the treasure chest. Then there is the marbles in a jar. For every 25 compliments from another teacher, parent, visitor, principal, etc. anyone else but the teacher (because I compliment them so much throughout the day) then the children are award with a party. I also want to incorporate the bucket filling positive behavior method. I have seen some sites, but want to know more about the program.

It's fine to change if you think something else will be better, but I have seen teachers use cards up to 5th grade and it still seems to work.

I have used a ticket system where I give tickets to students as I see them doing something they are supposed to be doing, whether it is academic based or behavior based. At the end of the week, they can trade in their tickets for small prizes or priviledges (such as lunch with teacher). Also, I have used table points too. This focuses on the positive behavior..good luck!

I was just moved from 1st grade to 4th grade. In first grade we flipped cards for discipline, but I don't think this is a good method for older students. Does anyone have any ideas for what my team might be able to use as a discipline system. I would really like to use a more positive based system if anyone has an idea.
