We have the basic band, chorus, student council, book club...but I would love to implement a math club (being the math nerd I am...) and think that students would love to attend any after school club...
Have you thought about perhaps polling the students or parents??

I developed a Peace Club during graduate school days! I worked at a very urban elementary school, and we discussed a number of topics such a conflict management, leadership, hobbies, etc.

I subbed at a middle school, whose principal had teachers who were engaged in afterschool clubs. There were a wide-variety from wrestling to intramural gym to knitting to writing. I would look at 4-H and maybe some in-school scouting programs, as these clubs generally have funding.

We have Lego League and Chess Club. I think you can even get lesson plans for the Lego League activities and there are state competitions.

We don't have any after school activities because we are such a rural school with lots of busing, but I remember my elementary school had tons of activities after school:
1) Math Club
2) Newspaper (this was my favorite! It was a mini newspaper, but with all the real stuff- book reviews, music, interviews, it was awesome.
3) Art
4) French (you could do any language if you had the teacher)

Choose something that will be easy to set up and do- like Math Club I think would be very easy. Also, any community service organization would be awesome and get good publicity for the school. I've also heard of jump-roping teams in elementary school.

Have fun!

We have quite a few clubs that are offered either before or after school; Japanese Club 4-5th(taught by a teacher who speaks Japanese), choir for 3-5th (taught by a music teacher), creative writing (taught by a reading specialist) , band for 4-5th graders (music teacher), guitar for 4-5th grade(music teacher), running club where kids earn these little feet that go onto a necklace for every 10 miles they run (PE teacher). A few of them are offered before school and some are after school. Our creative writing class is offered 3 days a week for different grade levels (1st-5th grade). Good luck....it sounds like a big job.

A few years ago, our team implemented a Science Club with the help of our local 4H. A math club is a good idea and of course, a book club. I love to read!! :}

We have none at my school but if I could start one up, I would be interested in starting up a runner's club that competes. It's called: Girls on the Run
We also have clubs offered to GATE kids only: crafts, science, knitting, chess, obstacle courses, Girl Scout Science. We used to have a board games club in the library at lunch.

We really don't have many clubs for after school at our campus, just the "routine" clubs like choir, student council and then boy scouts in the early evening. However I do have a friend at another campus in my district that has different clubs that might get your creative ideas going! They have drama club, American Girls club, crafts, chess, as well as the "routine". I guess the sky is the limit...unless you are the only one doing them all!
