Apple takes over the world! The reason I donít need a watch is I always have my iPhone (which counts my miles, plays my podcasts, receives texts....). Sometimes I do check the time.

I love watches, but need to get several batteries replaced. I don't like having to look at the phone.

klarabelle 11-06-2019 02:53 PM

Yep, I wear a watch. I think its easier to look at a watch then pull out a phone to get the time.

lakey 11-05-2019 06:06 AM

I stopped wearing a watch the day I retired. I figured I was on my own schedule then and really didn't need to know the exact minute for recess duty, lunch, specials...anymore. In fact when we moved I got rid of all my watches!

TchrFvr 11-04-2019 09:08 PM

The one I wear most often is an old "nurse's" windup Timex. The other three I use in somewhat of a rotation are all self winding watches. I haven't used a battery operated watch since I was doing parking lot duty at lunch years ago and the battery went out and I didn't know when to come in

I don't wear one. I don't like the feel of it on my wrist. SOmehow I've managed to survive.

tgbwc 11-04-2019 02:39 PM

I havenít worn a watch in probably 27 years. Iíve been teaching 27 years.

I have quite a few watchesó mostly bracelet type ones. Then I switched to an Alta HR and have no need for them. They are just sitting in my jewelry case with now dead batteries. No idea what I could do with themó hmmm...I wonder if my sister might want them?

I have a lot of fashion watches, unfortunately many in need of batteries. When I would visit my mom in Florida, there was a booth in a flea market near her that sold batteries and replaced the dead ones at a reasonable price. Haven't been able to find a similar place up north.

I used to wear one every day and have some really nice ones. Eventually, I stopped because everyone has a phone with the time on it.

And now that Iím retired, I donít really need to know the time that often.

bellringer 11-03-2019 10:15 AM

I still wear one daily. For awhile I had a fitbit, but I quite wearing it. I really don't need to know exactly how many steps I take in a day--I know whether I've been active or a slug.

travelingfar 11-03-2019 09:39 AM

I always wear a watch. I couldn't function without one.

juliet4 11-03-2019 09:23 AM

I love my watch! No Fitbit or Apple Watch here...

1956BD 11-03-2019 09:11 AM

I wear one when I go out of the house.

hand 11-03-2019 09:06 AM

No. I replaced it several years ago with my Fitbit. I also like that my Fitbit lets me know if I get a text or phone call even when my phone is in my purse or in another room.

ZipLine 11-03-2019 08:59 AM

Yes, I still wear one. I like to know what time it is when I am out and about and my wrist feels naked without one? My phone is usually zipped in my purse so thatís no help.

Funny you should post this as I have been thinking of purchasing a new watch for a while. I just havenít made time to do so.

I wear a small, square-faced sterling silver watch every day. I do use it to check the time but I mostly keep it because it's like wearing a (useful) bracelet. I can control it and set it five minutes ahead, unlike my iPhone.

I think your daughter is lucky to get your watches. They may become very collectible over time.

jov 11-03-2019 08:28 AM

Now I've replaced my watch with a fitbit. I feel a little naked without the time on my wrist.

amiga13 11-03-2019 08:15 AM

Like many of you, I wore watches to work every day. I have a favorite (gift from DH) and 2 Seikos I like. I still like them all, but I haven’t worn them even once since I retired.

Yesterday I went to a jeweler to find out the best way to take care of them. I thought I could just have the batteries removed, but he explained why that’s not a good idea. He asked what I intended to do with them and I said leave them for my daughter. He said, “Why not give them to your daughter now?”

You need to know DD does wear a watch, but already has a gorgeous & very expensive one. Plus she rarely wants anything I offer her. I love the watches so much, I figured I’d rather keep them rather than have her reject them.

I changed my mind (I do that a lot) and offered her the watches. She wants them and is excited. I’m thrilled.

Do you still wear a watch?
