Yesterday our music teacher mentioned that she had learned about (and would like to play with) using Orff instruments with poetry. I had already toyed with idea of focusing on poetry in March for reading month (I know, April is poetry month, but April is full of other things, and the 6th graders don't get into guest readers like the primary, so I think it will work).

Anyway, I envision a poetry slam complete with a coffee house as a culminating activity, with students reading their own poems and accompanied by the instruments.

Has anyone used Orff instruments with poetry? Ideas- words of wisdom-anything is welcome.
