Will it be in April?
Here's one with humor and a lot of scope for 'voices' and emotions:

The sky is blue
White swans in the pond
Smell of a batch of apple pie
Beauty isn't it

This poem would require the reader to adopt two voices. It lends itself to a lot of voice expression and has humor too. The main prop needed would be a chair-- the reader would sit on this from the start-- but she could also have some mangled papers to show as she reads.

I love the poem! I don't know if the final poetry reading will be in March or April, but will find out as I would love for her to use this one. DO you have any others appropriate for her? Thanks so much!

I need a poem for my grandaughter to recite for the Reading Festival at her school. Any ideas? She is in the fourth grade.
