I wish you the best! I am not sure what you might have to bargain for unless it is a private school. I hope you have a great class coming up!

I remember how excited I was when I got my first teaching job! That was 30 years ago! How time flies! I wish you all the best!

You sound so excited.. I wish newness and excitement for me was there. I had it for my first year of teaching but then. It. Was. Gone for. The 2nd... 3rd... Now. I'd probably hold off on texting the lead teacher too much. Maybe get a list of questions together and then asking at once many things?.

SpeedLimit62 04-21-2017 07:21 PM

Congratulations! That is really exciting. Don't worry about all the benefits and stuff. If you have a financial advisor I'd give them a ring to make sure you know what you should be doing RE: benefits and what types of things you should take.

Did they offer you, your salary amount?

It is so exciting to hear your enthusiasm and joy for your new job as a teacher! I loved my 39 years in the classroom and you will too. The joys outweigh the challenges! Your friends here at PT are ready to help you be a success.

Oh yes, I forgot I will be a Kindergarten teacher!

I am so excited to pour my love over them.

I wish I saw the comment about measurements before I went to day/:

I did ask about access to class list, district email and such. I won't have that until August, and I did ask about theme- they don't have one. The P emailed me about summer professional dev. that I can get paid to do. I did get to see my class and what resources are in there! [MY FAVORITE PART]

My class is next door to the team lead, and I got to go in her class for little and communicate with her about the programs they use etc. We will get along great I can already tell. Best of all, I got her number and will able to text her any and every question.

Betty4567 04-15-2017 07:23 AM

When can you see your classroom? (take measurements of bulletin boards, inventory of supplies etc..)

Can I get the teacher's phone numbers in my grade level? (sometimes, we meet during the summer-- or we talk about upcoming themes for bulletin boards.)

I did not know that my campus opened on the weekends for an entire year!!!! It was just an unspoken knowledge that was never mentioned. Does the campus open after hours? Who can you bring to help you?

Are there any summer trainings or pds that you need to attend?

The most important question!! Ask when you can have access to online resources (email, district timelines/lesson plans, payroll).

Good Luck!!!

BIG congrats, Mrs. Rob! And remember, you won't be the only newbie in the classroom. Your kids will be too, and I'm betting from your enthusiasm that they will enjoy all that you do!

This is a very challenging profession, even for veterans. So, don't be discouraged if you should ever feel overwhelmed. Certainly, the joys outweigh the challenges for most of us.

Regarding your meeting with HR- they will guide you through and tell you everything you need to know. If anything is confusing, just ask them to clarify. Yay!!,

Same things sblief said.

I was working as an educational assistant and wasn't even applying for classroom jobs but got offered my 1st grade teaching job on a Friday at 10am, had to decide by 2pm, and school started Tuesday.

mrsrob 03-28-2017 04:52 PM

i am so blessed i wanted something before may! that would make me insane💔

sblief 03-28-2017 05:16 AM

Super exciting!!

They'll have you sign your contract and deal with insurance later. That's great they hired you early! When I was hired, I had 2 weeks before school started to prepare.

mrsrob 03-27-2017 07:39 AM

I am going to be a first year teacher, and just got a verbal offer. The principal said HR would be calling,is there any main questions I should ask? I have never had to deal or worry about insurance, benefits or whatever besides the regular tax forms. Thanks for reading and super excited for AUGUST!
