Maybe you could give her some kind of job where she is in charge of something where the boys have to give her respect. In my class, jobs like "center mgr" or "calendar" person are ways to get people to look at the student in a different way. They suddenly have a little authority over the others.

Take the boys aside, one at a time, in a discreet manner, and ask them why they don't like to stand by the girl.

You might have to assign seats/places to avoid this problem from becoming a major thing.

Maybe she talks TOO much for those boys liking?

Maybe she is sweet on the surface but has a hidden mean streak??

let us know how it goes.

Hi, there!
I've had a problem develop in my first grade classroom that I have never seen or even heard of before and I've taught for over 25 years!! I have a little girl in my class who is as sweet as can be but the boys seem to have really taken a negative attitude toward her. It took me a few weeks to decide what was actually happening. When we would line up to leave the room for any reason, she was often one of the first 2 or 3 kids there. Then there was this quiet shuffling of boys one by one like dominoes going to the back of the line (to keep from standing by her). The same thing happens when we go to the floor for various activities. I'm sure I could solve it by assigning "spots", etc., but have only 11 students so that seems a bit unnecessary. She is a TALKER, but otherwise I have never seen any problem that she caused of an ongoing nature, other than the normal range of things that 1st graders do. I have not seen any overt meanness, etc. either.
