I am new economics teacher who has a degree in history. I have been racking my brain trying to find activities for economics besides stupid worksheets. Does anyone have any resources you can point me towards?

Thanks for your help!

Try googling “home school resources economics.” When I tried, just now, a lot of listings came up. You might have to sift through and do a lot of skimming, but I bet you will find a variety of ideas as well as possibly activity books aimed at homeschoolers, who traditionally like to do lots of hands on activities and learning games.

enterprise? They start a business, figure supply and demand, expenses, checkbooks, accounts, ordering stuff, cost analysis, and so on... Maybe have each kid/partners do a different business and make a mock small town...??

Just a thought.

That is a good idea, I had forgotten about that. Thanks!

When I was in high school, my economics teacher had us work on a virtual stock market. There are some that you can find online that cost money, or you could just have the students keep track on the actual stock market by themselves. This could be a good activity if you wanted a semester-long project or just a week-long activity. You could probably take the first 5 to 10 minutes every day to let the kids check their stocks and write down what they've been buying/selling/looking at.

Hope this helps!
