The current sub job I’m doing is for four days. Last Friday was the first day, and at dismissal yesterday, one of the students (not in my class, but in the same grade level) said, “Mrs. Mooba, how long are you here for Mrs. X?” “Wednesday is my last day. Mrs. X will be back on Thursday.” Without missing a beat, the student matter-of-factly replied, “Wow, Mrs. X must be really tired of her job.”

That one gave me a chuckle.
I've heard a lot of funny stuff. I guess I'll share some here.

In a kindergarten class, one of the children ran up to me with a plastic croissant and said "I have a croissant!" Stooping down to get a better look at it, I told her "wow, that's amazing! Do you know where croissants come from?" and without missing a beat, she said "Costco." and turned and ran off.

Another time, in a much older high school class, I was telling a student that there are people who act differently when they're "on and off the clock," and when a student heard "on the clock," she said "you're not on the clock. The clock is on the wall," and I nearly died laughing.
