When I used the d5 framework (before I retired) I had separate writers' workshop time. During work on writing in d5 my students could choose any type of writing as opposed to during writers' workshop time.

At my school and grade level, writing/ELA is a separate class from reading because of the 2 different state assessments. If I were to start the Daily 5 and modified it, would I still have a real writing workshop time before or after Daily 5?
