Has anyone thought about working as a Distance Learning Tutor (basically helping kids while their parents are working)? Our district is starting Hybrid which I have no clue what that means for subs. I am just wondering if anyone has looked into it. I don't know if people would be willing to pay for help and if it would be profitable.

mrsd5, is the distance learning for a whole day or half day?

2 granddaughters are attending hybrid. 2 days one week and 3 days the next. $25 a child a day. I will also watch them after school on attendance days after school As their after school program isnít running, but that will be Mimi time and free. Days they are at school, I will be available to sub. Iím not thrilled because I donít like to teach the littles.

They just announced that the distance part of hybrid learning won't be just working on the computer like it was last spring. The students that are at home will be attending the class virtually live. If it goes to all distance learning, then all students would be attending virtually live. I don't think I would care to just watch students watch school and I don't see much need for tutors at that point. I guess I need to figure out a plan C.

Ive seen families posting on Craigslist looking for retired teacher or subs willing to help with distance learning. They are willing to pay between 30-40 per hour for the service. Might want to check it out.

I am in a rural area. There is a retired teacher that has put up flyers around town that she will tutor students. Not sure how it has worked out for her, though, but it could be worth a try.
