Did you know that there is a trick when multiplying a double digit number by 11? Separate the number, add the two digits and write the answer between the two digits.

11 x 12 = 1_2
11 x 12 = 132

Kids love that one.

Thank you for sharing the video which I will share with others.

Warning, I'm about to step up on my soapbox. You have been warned!

The single best product I ever bought for school was a 33 1/3 record called Multiplication Motivation. Over the years I switched to audio tapes and recently bought CDs as my great-nieces and nephews entered 3rd grade and will enter 3rd grade. They are skip counting songs, each in a different style, that cover the 2's through 10's. I have posted a number of times about these songs that I used from the very beginning of the year even though we didn't begin learning our facts until later in the year. Not only are they fun but being able to "rattle" off the products easily relieve a lot of the stress of learning the facts.

Stepping down from the soapbox now.

I played the Schoolhouse Rock CDs in the car all summer before my son started 3rd grade, and it worked wonders!

Nothing wrong with that!! 11s are cake, and I remember doing 12s as a kid - they came in handy often!

I came across a great video today for alleviating kids' multiplication fears:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=Nh7xapVB-Wk

(For some reason, the link takes you to the end - just hit the little replay curl in the lower left hand corner after she says "thanks for watching".)

This was where I originally found it, via Pinterest:
