Does it count to take a communication device? If it does, I would take that so we could call for help after we have enjoyed a little fun in the sun.

generator. . .to run my Keurig machine. What would we all do without beverages????

TeacherMeg 02-22-2014 06:14 PM

I would have to bring my teacher bag. It's full of anything and everything. I'm sure something in there would come in handy.

tia 02-22-2014 04:18 PM

i wanted to say chapstick after i saw a PP mention it---always a MUST HAVE.

BUT...i have to say--I would take this stack of papers that needs grading--i'd finally have time to get it done!

daisyflower 02-22-2014 03:09 PM

ABC girl 02-22-2014 02:57 PM

I would bring my trusty plan book! We could all "plan " a "hands-on"
way to leave the island and then we could evaluate our methods while making sure they matched the "Island" standards!

Gromit 02-22-2014 02:53 PM

I'd bring my classroom walkie talkie and tell the everyone to bring theirs too!

Luvetc3 02-22-2014 02:50 PM

I have it to hang art projects, and since I always seem to have paper clips in my pockets, I could keep us supplied with fish!

Suezie 02-22-2014 02:32 PM

After reading the replies, I think we will enjoy being marooned on the island with just our PT buckos!!

What would I bring from my classroom? Since I wish to be part of the Welcoming Committee, I would bring my colourful sharpies and blank name-tags. We need to keep track of everyone at this party!

readerleader 02-22-2014 02:19 PM

I would bring my playground equipment. We might as well have some fun!

rachelmpd 02-22-2014 12:59 PM

I would have to do Rock,Paper, Scissors to decide between a student or the Duct tape. Although my Duct tape is teal, so while it would help us put things together, I don't think it would reflect as well as the silver. So maybe M would be a better choice.

M because she is very logical, something that I rarely am.

powellstarkey 02-22-2014 12:46 PM

Emergancy snack bag and bandaids.

kdgteach 02-22-2014 12:38 PM

Blimey and Blow Me Down! Marooned on an island wit' me PT buckos?!
We all be teachers...the most creative creatures on earth. Shiver me timbers, Lad. We can make do with what we find, so I will bring my smile! Yo Ho Ho!

dawnmei 02-22-2014 11:37 AM

I keep a tool kit in my's come in handy many times!

doc2000 02-22-2014 11:32 AM

I'd bring my end of grade assessments.....I might be stranded, but I could save 25 third graders the stress of a week long test .......

DiamondGirl 02-22-2014 11:30 AM

Me PT buckos would need me glue gun, because we'd all be sitting' round the coconut trees hot gluing leaves together to make clothes.

Miller 02-22-2014 11:25 AM

a fishing net. I have a fishing net hanging from my ceiling in my class library.

EarthMonkey 02-22-2014 10:59 AM

I would bring my 27 first graders. My fishing experts could feed us. My singing experts could either keep us awake or put us to sleep depending on which expert. My writing experts could make up stories to entertain and notes for the bottle. My building experts would build huts for us all. My art experts would decorate. My organizing experts would have the routine set up and going in a day or two. My performance artists would entertain us all. My wailing/temper tantrum experts would be our SOS crew. My comfy experts would get everything comfy and cozy for us all. My cleaning experts would clean the island spick and span.

eliza4one 02-22-2014 10:59 AM

I'd bring my collection of (funny) stories written by my students over the past 10 years. They'd keep us laughing throughout our 'predicament'.

Keltikmom 02-22-2014 07:05 AM

Book How I Became a Pirate, so when the pirates land I would know how to act and they would take me off to amazing adventures!

pink.sparkles 02-22-2014 06:58 AM

I'd bring some books. Who knows how long we would be there? Maybe starting a book club would pass the time. At worst, we can plan some fantastic guided reading!

JenInWV 02-22-2014 06:56 AM

I would take my huge stockpile of hand sanitizer and bandaids. That way, we could have clean hands!

renielen 02-22-2014 06:47 AM

I would bring my whole class! I only have 14 students. I teach 3rd grade. (Yes, I know I am lucky-NOT )
"K" would wander all over the island and come back a couple of days later. This would be after I kept saying, "Where's "K" We would know what was on the other side of the island.
"T" would have a plan of how to get off of the island.
"J1" would ask, "So we can't get off of the island?" This is after we have been here for a couple of days. He will make sure we know that we are stranded.
"J2" would find some object like a paperclip that could help us make a fishing hook…no she would have in her mouth and probably swallow it.
"M" would just sit and look at the ocean. She could be a look out for the rescue ship.
"E" would have a food stash.
"A" would have a wardrobe of new clothes for us to wear.
"M2" would entertain us and we would forget we were on the island.
"D" would blame us all for getting on the island and we would try to get off just so we wouldn't have to hear her talking!
"E2" would catch the fish with her bare hands and kill any other animals that we could eat.
"J3" would find a way to make a lip balm for us.
"L" would keep asking me what he could do to help. But not do anything to help.
"L2" would be our food tester. She would get sick and we would know not to eat the food.
"J4" is only on the island because he got on the ship just as we were getting ready to leave.

javamomma 02-22-2014 06:39 AM

the thing I would grab would be my sons after school snack bag. (which is really small meals, but to an almost 12 year old snacks!)

Button11 02-22-2014 06:20 AM

Duct tape! Don't ya know that fixes everything?

jcole25857 02-22-2014 05:13 AM

from the rock collection. We must have fire for cooking, warmth, and to signal a rescue plan.

Teach25+ 02-22-2014 04:23 AM

Leftover Valentine's Day chocolate is definitely needed for this stressful situation!

TLC 02-22-2014 04:21 AM

It is that time of year and I just can't seem to say no to those sweet faces. I have quite the stash and will trade for books and sunscreen!

trasie 02-22-2014 02:12 AM

I'd bring a magnifying glass from my science stash. We could collect dry brush and use it to start a fire and keep warm. We could also use it to boil water for drinking and to signal rescue airplanes.

mooseweaver 02-21-2014 10:13 PM

I would bring the broken shades from my windows so that we could build a cool shelter with the duct tape and then color on it with the cool pens . . .

PCSLackey 02-21-2014 10:09 PM

water bottle (never without me trusty friend) and me sunglasses. Ye wouldn't want the glare from the ocean to cause a headache.

lte's mom 02-21-2014 09:34 PM

My collection of colored pens, markers, crayons and pencils. Fluerdelys and I will die of starvation and dehydration, but we'll have our colored smelly pens and a smile!

GdHrtdTchr 02-21-2014 09:26 PM

Okay, I'm class-less this year, but I'll reply with last year's class in mind:
Like almost everything educators undertake nowadays, this challenge would call for a TEAM effort!
We would have to coordinate!

Being a former Peace Corps Volunteer, I would bring my Swiss Army knife if it happened to be in my bag or desk from a science activity, but since I usually don't bring KNIVES to school, I'd have to grab the next closest thing -- my Xacto knife (for bulletin boards.)

My new buddy -- her iPhone, cuz for some reason she gets reception EVERYWHERE.

Our math teacher -- a deck of cards.

The science teacher -- matches

The pre-school teacher -- that wooden boat -- cuz it probably really would float!

My long-time buddy wouldn't have to bring a thing. She should just show up cuz she deserves a break!

And I'd hafta find a way to get the 3rd grade teacher to bring my talented and gifted K____.
All last year, I had to shut K____ up unless she was answering a question, because my principal believed in silent halls and very quiet lunches and rare recesses. K____ was sweet and brilliant and had interesting things to say. I would love to be stranded on a deserted island with K___ and a bunch of teachers and talk and talk and talk. We could 'play school' and let her be the teacher. She could talk forever and know that I'd treasure every word!

Teacherbee_4 02-21-2014 09:16 PM

Definitely my candy and diet coke stash!

rhubarb 02-21-2014 09:04 PM

I would bring one of the Crib boards and partner up with KatieViolet for her playing cards! I would also bring a stash of toilet paper (my portable has a bathroom) and a bottle of wine in my desk given to me as a thank you gift!

QTpie 02-21-2014 08:48 PM

My chocolates for meetings bag and a book or two.

alarock 02-21-2014 08:31 PM

We have several rolls of duct tape leftover from a project we were working on this year! The possibilities are endless..

kckrzy 02-21-2014 08:28 PM

I would grab my classroom size parachute. The bright colors might be easily seen by a passing plane or we could use it to cover our shelter to keep us dry on those rainy days. Maybe we could use it to help us carry things from place to place with those built in handles, or even bounce coconuts around for some fun.

Poppins 02-21-2014 08:24 PM

I would bring my plentiful supply of gallon ziplock baggies to catch rainwater to drink, or maybe I would just bring my never-ending supply of Diet Coke!

crazy4catz 02-21-2014 08:07 PM

My emergency Rubbermaid tote. It has water, snacks, books, extra supplies and even a shower curtain incase some has to go.

StoneSoup 02-21-2014 08:04 PM

I'd bring lots of my bottles of Diet Dr. Pepper and paper, so would could write rescue notes. Hopefully they would float slowly, so we could all have a nice vacation.

VivianCP 02-21-2014 07:57 PM

I actually have in my classroom at this very moment, a bucket and a toilet seat! Guess I'd have to bring that.

DoxieTeacher 02-21-2014 07:53 PM

My chocolate stash!

City Mouse 02-21-2014 07:37 PM

I would take my car because it is my mobile classroom. I don't have a classroom! It has all kinds of teacher stuff that might come in handy for rescue, we could drive around the island, and maybe we could turn the car into a boat and get back to civilization.

Peachyteacher 02-21-2014 07:24 PM

My secret stash of treats.

trexteach 02-21-2014 07:02 PM

Rolls and rolls of paper towels and boxes of tissues because I don't want to wipe my behind on any palm fronds!

MissESL 02-21-2014 06:55 PM

My art drawer - it has crayons, markers, books, paper, glitter, glue, string...everything you might need to survive!!

mom23kids 02-21-2014 06:53 PM

Well, I guess I'd have to bring a camera to take a picture of this island so that when I finally am rescued by the PT captains, I could add this adventure to my writers notebook

Love_2_Teach 02-21-2014 06:45 PM

I would have to bring all the hand wipes to clean our hands and tools to help make a great shelter.

MayCee 02-21-2014 06:45 PM

I would bring one of my lounging chairs from my classroom library. I would put it at the waters edge, place my feet in the water and soak up the sun. And I would NOT want to be reduced until May 28th, then I would have the whole summer to enjoy my new tan.

kster 02-21-2014 06:35 PM

I would grab my just in case bag I keep in my mini closet -dental floss, mouthwash, deodorant, lip balm, hairbrush, ponytail holders, lent brush, cough drops, hot tea packets, tampons, tweezers, fingernail clippers

annie_g 02-21-2014 06:27 PM

I'd bring my iPad - so we could send a message to PT for help...or to join us with a pitcher of margaritas!

Snoozie 02-21-2014 06:12 PM

I haven't seen anyone mention hammer and nails yet! They're right in my desk drawer. Maybe the x-acto knife and the stapler would come in handy too.

My bandaids and the tube of vaseline would probably be useful too.

kahluablast 02-21-2014 06:05 PM

I think everyone has it covered. I am just going to volunteer to go to the island. Sounds like a blast!

Garden Gal 02-21-2014 05:57 PM

I've got the emergency M&Ms

Charlotte 02-21-2014 05:48 PM

I'm taking my scissors! Pretty sure teachers can do just about anything with a pair of scissors.

jvar87 02-21-2014 05:44 PM

I would definitely have to agree with bringing an IPAD! We could easily connect to someone who could help rescue us.

If not an IPAD, then a yard stick to carve out a HELP ME message in the sand for any planes flying by.

h0kie 02-21-2014 05:39 PM

I'd definitely bring the pillow I keep on my chair. Everyone else is bringing necessities! I'll bring some comfort! Besides, I'm cranky if I don't get enough sleep.

SFOA 02-21-2014 05:38 PM

I absolutely agree with the Keurig and duct tape. Anything could be fastened together, and we'd have the energy to do it.

Laura 02-21-2014 05:27 PM

Books and some staples or paper clips for those fishing lines I read about!

vateacher 02-21-2014 05:22 PM

I'd bring my super secret hidden keurig for everyone to share

techgrad 02-21-2014 05:17 PM

Wifi- an iPad. That way we can send an SOS to our pt friends that didn't come and help us.

No wifi? That's no fun- then I would take my take my sparkly stickers so airplanes can see our messages.

Btw- is it a choice to stay? Being on an island sounds better than working

freckleface 02-21-2014 05:17 PM

I'd be bringin' me Pepto chewables!! And me Pepsi to wash it down!

dutchgirl 02-21-2014 05:15 PM

I'd take my copy of Treasure Island. and chocolate!

I have a large bottle of tylenol in my desk. I would bring that for those who get headaches easily.

gardener5 02-21-2014 04:43 PM

Fishing line! I have a roll of it which I use to hang items from the ceiling.

What wonderful answers the previous posters have had! I think we'd all be fine on that island and have lots of fun, too.

Momjo 02-21-2014 04:38 PM

My bulletin boards. Cork does float, doesn't it? We could use Rana's duct tape to make a sizable raft. Beats having to decorate them!

tmar 02-21-2014 04:33 PM

I would bring my plastic container marked "emergency chocolate" that I always bring to our grade level meetings!

Suzanne 02-21-2014 04:10 PM

I would bring all of the papers I should have corrected over this vacation... Maybe some of my PT buckos would give me a hand?

Savvy 02-21-2014 04:00 PM

I'd bring a big gray sterlite tote. We could use it for so many things.

multigrade 02-21-2014 03:49 PM

I second the duct tape! The kids down the hall have been using my camo duct tape and it's almost gone, but my silver tape might be seen more easily.

Song of Joy 02-21-2014 03:45 PM

My black plastic paint aprons. They could be tied together to make a lean-to, or used to line a depression in the ground so we could catch rain water.

I'll add my loudest student to GraceKrispy's and they can tag team if the other should ever run out of energy.

bookbadger 02-21-2014 03:36 PM

I've inherited quite a large stash of craft yarn from the teacher before me...we could make a fish net and catch some supper!

a bag of peppermints--to keep our breaths minty fresh!

TchMe 02-21-2014 03:18 PM

SpecialAnne 02-21-2014 03:10 PM

Things are pretty sparse in my classroom...I would probably take my water bottle and my first aid kit??

linda2671 02-21-2014 03:07 PM

I could caulk it with mud and use it for a boat to get off the island and bring back help.

GraceKrispy 02-21-2014 03:05 PM

My most active and loudest student! He could yell for help periodically, when he wasn't running around the island maniacally doing my bidding (e.g., gather wood, hunt animals, etc)

Teach4 02-21-2014 03:05 PM

Well, I've got a box of Easy Mac in there - maybe we could cook it over a fire instead of in a microwave? Or the bag of Twix? I'm all about food, I guess.

KatieViolet 02-21-2014 03:01 PM

I'd take my decks of cards so we could keep ourselves entertained!

SleepEatTeach 02-21-2014 02:51 PM

I would bring my stash of snacks...I get cranky when I'm hungry

BettySpeller 02-21-2014 02:32 PM

I'd bring my suntan lotion from the bottom of my desk drawer. I keep it in there for when we have our outdoor play days.

SusanTeach 02-21-2014 02:24 PM

I have a lighter in my desk for candles. I'd bring that to start fires (since I'm not a girl scout) and then we could cook fish (since I'd hate to eat it raw!).

Star Light 02-21-2014 02:22 PM

My bag of emergency medicines!

Fleurdelys 02-21-2014 02:09 PM

I would bring my Mr. Sketch markers to keep me entertained. I could make very pretty SOS signs. Sniff them when I got bored. Color myself to create great disguises.

read2day 02-21-2014 02:08 PM

Avast ye scurvy dog! Since I am a librarian I would naturally choose to take books with me. This one might just come in handy:

PrivateEyes 02-21-2014 02:00 PM

An umbrella for shade.

rana712 02-21-2014 01:57 PM

Duct tape. Good for oh, so many things. I am thinking about building a raft by duct taping logs together. Duct tape a shelter together. Make a pair of shoes! So many choices. And, yes... I do have duct tape in my classroom!

desert flower 02-21-2014 01:50 PM

I'd be bringing cases of bottled water, and chapstick!

xavier 02-21-2014 01:41 PM

We'd be entertained.

PoohBear 02-21-2014 01:38 PM

I'd bring my candy stash!

Firebelly 02-21-2014 01:33 PM

mrshointz 02-21-2014 01:30 PM

My bean bag chairs. If we're marooned, it would be nice to relax in a comfy chair while we drink our tropical drinks and wait for rescue.

take the scissors from my desk!

Munchkins 02-21-2014 01:10 PM
