some of those I might have taken. Physics kids are usually high kids and work independently which is good b/c I never had physics and couldn't help them! lol PE isn't so bad but a lot of standing - yuck, social studies - yeah, and as for boring jobs like ta - I'll do it. I can be bored for $$. lol However spec ed takes know how and energy none of which I have a the moment. What is emotional support anyway???

Most teachers know that subs might not be experts in physics, music, German ... you name it.

Give these classes a try! Most of them will have reasonable lesson plans that a non-expert sub can handle.

I sub in a medium-sized district (3 high schools, 3 middle schools). By expanding the types of classes that I will accept, I frequently have my classes booked a week in advance, using Aesop.

There are no programs like aesop for the rinky dink district I work in. You get what they call you for and if you don't want it... tough tooties, you are not subbing that day. I usually get what I want though (perhaps it is because I am so open). I've only been called for special ed a few times. It's not that bad b/c the teacher's aid knows the whole routine. My district also only calls me for Elementary b/c that is what my degree is for.

I just saw 2 jobs posted for next year already!! I am scared to take them in case I get sick or there is a blizzard or something, but boy would I sure love to have 2 jobs already lined up.

I'm a special ed parapro, and we're lucky to have ANY jobs period. I can't imagine having that many to choose from!! Here we take what we get. If I'm REALLY lucky, I may have TWO to choose from!

Our last day is tomorrow, so there are no jobs around here - which is fine because I've had a nasty cold for 3 days...

I'm so jealous of all of you that have Aesop or Subfinder. THe district I work in calls about 7:30am and tells me the school to go to. I find out when I get there. It stinks but it's my only option for now.

Just had a ton of special ed jobs post here, too - then finally a music one

Today I was a child care worker in an autism room and I thought I was just going to be doing pull out instruction. Woops. Come to find out I'll be doing the same thing tommorrow in the sister program at the school across the street from my house tommorrow. I almost cancelled! I'm really just in the mood to be the regular teacher, but no such luck, except for yesterday. Lately, none of my favorite districts have been posting jobs. Only the worst schools with the worst behaviors. Why is that?

lovetosub 12-15-2010 05:24 PM

already, and not one worth taking.

Let's see -- we have spec ed, emotional support; spec ed, learning support (which is code word in this district for teacher's assistant -- boring!); physics (no way); phys ed (never again); and . . . oh, look, social studies! Yea!
