I teach 6th grade and the majority of my students are reading 2 and 3 levels behind. This week we are going to begin reading The Big Lie: A True Story by Isabella Leitner. It is a non-fiction account of how she and her family were arrested and placed in a concentration camp. It is rated by Scholastic as a 5.5 grade equivalent, DRA 50, guided reading level T. It is a pretty short novel.

Thank you. I think I have a few of these books at school. I will check tomorrow and see if they seem reasonable.

This is a long shot. I need a non-fiction Holocaust book for 6th graders reading approximately 2-3 grade levels behind. Anyone?
